About the farm
Hare Krishna! Vancouver Pushpanjali Flower Farm is a non profit small-scale ecologically-sustainable farm (1+ acres) operation located at ISKCON Vancouver. Following the instructions of Founder-acharya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, we use ecological farming practices to grow beautiful flowers for the community, Temple offerings and festivals.
The Farm is also an instrument to engage the community in devotional service and training. Local agriculture can also keep our community well-fed, healthy, and enjoying the simple and joyful act of connecting to the Earth through fresh, flavourful offerings and simple living; which in turn directly follows Prabhupada's vision and instructions on self sufficiency: 'high thinking and simple living'.
Caring for the Earth and all its beings
Our commitment to ecological sustainability is not just a practical decision, but a spiritual one as well. We believe that it is our responsibility to care for the Earth and all its beings. As we work to preserve and restore the land, we feel a sense of purpose and meaning that goes beyond just providing flowers for our customers.
Our mission
Cultivating a deeper connection with nature
Through our small-scale flower farm, we have the opportunity to share our love for the Earth and its beauty with others. As we sell our flowers and interact with our customers, we hope to inspire and encourage them to also cultivate a deeper connection with nature. By fostering a sense of reverence and respect for the Earth, we believe we can contribute to a more harmonious and compassionate world.
Pushpanjali is Sanskrit for Flower Offering
Pushpanjali is a Sanskrit term that means "offering of flowers." It is a traditional practice with ancient roots from India, in which flowers are offered as a form of tribute or devotion to a deity or holy figure. The offering of flowers is meant to symbolize the offering of one's thoughts, prayers, and devotion to the divine. It is often accompanied by chanting, singing, and other devotional practices, and is seen as a way to show respect and honor to the divine.
